In this 5th edition of Jamie’s Corner, I met up with Tarek Yafi of We grill.
A former investment banker is hoping to kick start a chain of casual, healthy eating restaurants called We grill.
Tarek Yafi will return to his old stomping ground in the City to open his first outlet in Leadenhall Market.
The tiny, 12 cover spot will serve grilled meat, marinated chicken, secretly spiced lamb meatballs and veg on skewers, along with homemade soups and fresh salads, for a mainly takeaway market.
Tarek and his team will source and offer only the freshest produce with full traceability from the farm to the plate.
I have been liaising with Tarek in developing a Lamb meatball spec, using our minced lamb and created with his special recipe and ingredients.
The free range chicken they will be taking off us will be marinated overnight, prior to grilling to order.
We grill is also open for breakfast and brunch and in summer there will be an outside terrace accommodating up to 32 people.
Tarek and his team plan to open a second outlet within two years.
