Unfortunately, this month has been a struggle for some of the smaller abattoirs in the UK. Our sources say 27 out of 135 are rated as in danger with a further 13 being given a caution rating. It is important at Select that we continue to support smaller family-run local abattoirs – the likes of Fowler Brothers in Essex supply us with handpicked salt marsh lambs. We have seen smaller abattoirs grow to keep up with our ever increasing demand so it is crucial we all keep behind them.
