Lamb farmers seem to be proving why their strong price is holding at the moment as we see many medium to large weighted bodies coming through the liveweight market. This is the main reason for what seemed to be a rapid price spike a few months back. 2015/16 saw a lower number of medium to heavy weighted lambs coming through therefore resulting in weak prices, but as of autumn 2016 onwards the more expensive weight range seems to be on the rise, pushing prices up. We wanted to concentrate on lamb for the time being as contrary to the overall market of increasing lamb prices, Select have actually managed to absorb these rises and actually decrease some of our line prices thanks to a great working relationship with our local suppliers.
